In June of 2007 international message board - Parkour.net closed down due to a political issue with David Belle over the use of the word ‘Parkour’. A clear update hasn’t been given yet as to what is going on, but if you take a look at www.parkour.net now you’ll see that the site has been reactivated and users are able to view previous topics. It doesn’t look like anyone can actually post new articles or register new accounts for the moment, but that may change. Definitely worth a look as there are some decent articles there.

Ouch, what happened there then?
just what i was about to ask David belle?
He complained about them using the name ‘Parkour’, threatened legal action blah blah blah. Seeing as the site was run out of France and the fact that the person hosting the site lives close to Belle, there were personal issues to contend with too. The general gist was that Belle (backed by his brother) was trying to stop anyone outside of themselves using the word ‘Parkour’ but in effect, there’s absolutely nothing they can do about it as they didn’t protect it as a trademark.
*Sigh* That’s the difference between Belle and Foucan, Seb would never do anythin like that.

but yea parkour is really widespread now would be while to remove it from everyone so they cant use it that and will keep spirit and just call it a new word if have to..

This is probably why i see Foucan as the head ambassador rather than Belle (even though technically Belle is more a Founder then Foucan, Sebastien seems to have put more into the community)

I agree that’s pathetic, but i’ve always liked Belle better? and i do understand (sort of) but this doesn’t seem to help that old fight about freerunning and parkour (which i’m getting a lot of grief about round me area as they’re all idiots).
i wasn’t trying to start a PK/FR fight, i just think that sebastien is more chilled out.
